It is often very difficult to look beyond a person or thing when any situation occurs and remain focused on life. This is especially true if the situation is deemed to be bad or clashes with our ideas or beliefs. It then seems impossible to respect the other person, thing or even ourselves in such a moment.
One reason for this could be that our conscious state of living becomes obscured by the object details of the moment and we become lost in these thereby. How would our perspective of everything change if it were possible to stay centered in the field of active awareness? What would happen if we could suddenly show and experience respect for everything around us and even all that is within us, mentally and spiritually speaking? Respect of life is the key that could unlock this sanctuary of inner tranquility. This would also nurture a shift in our awareness to conscious living and could eventually increase the level of object consciousness.
Let’s illustrate practical steps that could be used to maintain respect for the life energy that is within everything. The practice of awakening oneself consciously is very beneficial in dealing with any encounter; whether this is a person, thing, thought our emotion. Maintaining your awareness of this conscious energy field will result from this daily practice.
Relearning how to be present with the moment through the practice of active awareness is similar to Abraham Lincoln’s philosophy on completing a given task. He Wrote:
“Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.”
~ Abraham Lincoln
It is possible for us in becoming enlightened. Through this practice we can and will remain conscious, on the level of object consciousness, for longer periods. This, in itself, opens a door and allows us to show more respect for life in general.
Respect Life and Respect Yourself
The observation of your awareness to consciousness will serve you well in being consciously prepared for whatever may happen. The next step that can be practiced is to realize deeply that it is not necessary to always respect a person, thing or even yourself. I realize that this sounds harsh and is contrary to what we have been taught.
We are, however, considering “life” and not our own person, other people or things. This does not mean that we will disregard or disrespect something or someone less. It simple suggests that we must not actually attempt, want or expect to honor any given object but instead cherish what is manifesting through it.
Respect Life and Experience Oneness
This step can be applied when, through observation, a person detects that there is resentment, discomfort or lack of respect for something or someone in a given situation. Here, in such a circumstance, we can focus on the life energy that flows through everything. This is much different then wasting energy on the momentary details of the moment.
This will slow down or even stop the further release of “pain-bodies” of the mind as Eckhart Tolle calls them. The result is that a person will be able to easily look beyond any and everything. Then there will be a constant acknowledgment of the life energy that is present in all objects of the universe. This, in turn, offers a portal to the dimension of oneness.
