Hopscotch and the Search for Enlightenment

Are you familiar with the game Hopscotch? The game reminds me of our behavior in the search for harmony and enlightenment. We often seek emancipation from the confines of our existence through guidelines and rituals. And, the game rules parallel our behavior in the desire to reach salvation. Furthermore, it also reflects misconceptions in our attempts to find enlightenment.

Did the game originally have religious or belief structure references? Maybe. Nevertheless, the game rules and structure assimilated into a conceptual understanding of Heaven and Hell. Equally, the hierarchy is similar to mind behavior in our experiences and quest for enlightenment, relating to behaviorism.

Here is an excerpt from www.ancestry.com. The article discusses the conceptual similarities between hopscotch, Christian rituals, and spiritual rebirth. I paraphrased the article for easier reading purposes. Continue reading

We share life. This is the greatest gift to experience. Sadly, we often become so occupied with existence details and distractions that we overlook the simple bliss of living life.

The activities of our existence confuse and cause fear. This is because we base everything on temporary superficiality and details. Furthermore, the majority of people think or belief that we can only reach this paradise through mind details. And, still very prevalent is the thought or belief that materialistic things will give us happiness and peace. Continue reading

Is Life Obligated to You? Does Life Owe You?

Do these questions seem odd to ask? Still, we expect life to give us something every day. Whether we are aware of it or not. We demand that life be fair. We assume living means getting what we want. Yes, indeed! Life is obligated to do our bidding. You may say that I am generalizing and the majority of people don’t think this way. However, we all do, at some given level. It is, so to say, in our blood. Life owes us. But, life is not here to fulfill our desires. Or, is it?

obligated

We must first burst this illusion bubble before we can truthfully answer this question. The origin and implication of this conditioned thinking started long ago (clock-time). But, when these expectations started is irrelevant. We attach ourselves to thinking patterns and belief systems. These dictate that everyone should live in paradise. Hence, Life has an obligation to give us the ideal circumstances to obtain nirvana. Thus, we are apprehensive about living. This causes us to await something from life. This is actually a self-inflected dependence. Continue reading
